On the Peace Diet plan by Dr. Terry Shintani, he mentioned eight aspects that also
contribute to a person’s overall health. The diet does not only cover the kind
of food to consume but it also includes external and internal factors. And in
order for a diet to work, there are other factors that should be taken into
consideration. The first four includes external factors: earth, air, water, and
energy. The four internal factors are based on people’s intentions, such as
thoughts, love, prayer, and exercise.
When it comes to thoughts, there is
evidence that it has profound effect on a person’s physical health. Thoughts can make a major impact on ones’
health in other ways. When a person is under a strain of stress, this cause
hormonal changes that can contribute to obesity and heart disease. Thoughts are
also reflected in words. When a person chooses his or words carefully, it keeps
the mind in a positive view and it helps improving relationships with other
people and reduces stress.
People are created not just as physical
being but also a spiritual being. For people who do not believe in spiritual
side of things, there is still a feeling of connection to a higher being and
spiritual component through the universal consciousness that we are all part of
a greater universe. Prayer is one of the most important things that a person
can do to support his or her health and well-being.
The next important aspect of health is
activity. Exercise optimizes a person’s health and aids in avoiding disease and
mental decline. One of the best ways to be active is to choose something
physically active to do that is fun. Study shows that people who exercises
regularly have lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s
disease and premature death.
Love describes the importance of
emotions to one’s health in the peace diet plan. Three aspects of
the most important aspect of health are: unconditional love, forgiveness and
gratitude. For some people, this is the most difficult part of the peace diet plan. Mari Shintani, Dr.
Shintani’s cousin says that, “the most important part for emotional and
physical health is to release all of the negativity and baggage of one’s
lifetime foundation of which begins at the point of the origin, so that one is
able to move forward in a new and positive direction.”
